Our Dogs

Meet our wonderful
dogs for adoption!

Our dogs are in ECHO foster homes or are in transition and soon to be on their way to a foster home.

We do try to list them as soon as we can! Sometimes it takes a while to get to know the new arrivals, so please be patient with us:)

Our dogs for adoption are not first come, first served.  Although we do consider applications on file first, our goal is to find the home that is the best home for that particular dog.  Be patient!  Your perfect companion will come along!

If you would like to fill out an application for us to keep on file, click here.

Meet Valor

ECHO RESCUE pulled 5 month old Valor from a Maryland shelter. He was picked up as a stray and brought to BCAS.

Thanks to a wonderful foster offer from Kim, we were able to save him.

We knew he had some sort of injury that was causing rear end weakness.
But we were totally shocked by what the x-ray showed:

Valor had been shot!

His body is riddled with buck shot.

Who would do this to a 5 month old puppy!?

He was essentially shot and left on the streets to die. I will never understand people.

We are hoping to bring him to Northstar today for a CAT scan.

But we need your help.
We know that money is tight for everyone. Everyone is struggling. But if you would consider making a donation towards Valor’s care, that would be greatly appreciated.

FOSTER HOMES

Help us to help these wonderful, special dogs get ready for their new FOREVER home!

Garrett

is looking for a new foster or foster to adopt!!

As does sometimes happen, the resident dog at his foster home is not adjusting well, and Garrett is coming back to us. We are in need of a new foster home.

His foster family absolutely adores him. Garrett is a huge cuddle-bug and wants to be your shadow. He loves his people and wants to be with them all day long. Garrett is best friends with the altered female in the house, but the altered male in the home has decided he doesn't want to share his Mom. Garrett seems to get along with dogs with proper introductions and loves to play chase and keep away.

Garrett is an about 2 years old, recently neutered rough coat border collie. He is smart as a whip and LOVES to play and train! He has had zero accidents in the house or crate. Rides beautifully in the car (crated). Has some manners (sit, down, wait/stay, is learning not to be pushy at doors/thresholds). Great tug and toy drive. High food drive. Needs some work on loose leash walking, but is learning quickly. Has been great with cards/joggers/dogs/animals at a distance, but needs work with impulse control and calmness when other dogs are near. Is quiet in the house mostly, but does make some noise when his humans are not close by (may need some work with separations). For this reason, he probably would not be a good fit for apartment-living. No cats or children in the foster house, so untested. He doesn't have the best awareness of his body yet (like a big puppy), so he might knock over small children when playing or rushing to get somewhere.

He has a lot of (typical) border collie energy, but his foster family has been very impressed with how he can self-entertain with toys and with his nice off-switch. This is a dog that wants to think and do all day long but will also cuddle for a nice nap in between or lay at your feet while you are working.

He is up-to-date on shots and ready for his forever home. If you’re interested in Garrett or able to foster, please fill out an application.

Garrett is waiting to meet you!

He is being fostered in CT, but reasonable transportation can be arranged.

Leidy

is in need of a new medical foster!
Preferably in Monmouth County so she can be near her doctors.

Leidy has an old hip fracture and will need FHO surgery. She will need PT prior to and after surgery.

Leidy is shy around strangers, and takes a little time to warm up, but once she does, she is so sweet and cuddly!

Leidy is a puppy at heart. She is still learning about potty training and needs to be instructed what are her toys and what is not. She is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is an active girl, but with her injury, must be monitored so she does not overdo it.

Farewell
Star

Sadly, Star has recently crossed the rainbow bridge.
She was not feeling well, and after several vet visits, she left us.

We wish to convey a special thank you
to her fosters, Adam, Joey and their girls,
for giving Star a year of amazing care, security,
and above all, love.
