Griffin

Griffin wants to be your new BFF!
Griffin is an Aussie
and is about 2 years old.
He is ready for his new forever home!
~~ Update February 24, 2026 ~~
Here is what his foster mom, Katherine, has to say about him:
Griffin is extremely easy to train. He took to clicker training immediately.
We are working on:
- Muzzle training - needed for medical appointments
- walking on a 6 ft lead without pulling
- No problem brushing him, looking at his teeth or general grooming. Allowed nail trimming with treats and going slow

Griffin, lower right
- He is a quick learner
- He easily crates at night and during the day in the office (where he naps) and he easily crates in the car
- He does like a routine
- He easily stays behind a gate when needed (we have gates and crates everywhere)
- He can be trusted to have the run of the house and has not had any accidents.
- When left alone for a few hours he just curled up and went to sleep
- He is very playful! Loves toys!!
- He loves, loves, loves being outdoors and loves burrowing in the deep snow. He loves hiking.
- He is quite curious and athletic; he could do great in Nosework, Agility, Parkour, Tricks, maybe Flyball and likely Disc. He also loves a puddle so possibly even Dock Diving.
- He is very food motivated and not picky
- He is very sweet
- He is learning about boundaries and taking cues from the resident pups. He does have the hard Aussie type play style
- He is a little shy at first and prefers meeting on his level
- He is "mouthy" like a puppy when he gets excited or wants to play, though not aggressive in any way.
Griffin would do well in an active home.
He would be a great dog to take camping and hiking!
He will need ongoing training and would do well to be in a group class so he can learn more impulse control around other dogs.
He is a very aloof dog which is part of what makes him sweet and goofy.
~~ From Griffin's earlier foster, Ann ~~
Griffin is SUCH a sweet boy!
Although he was initially nervous in every strange situation, he adjusted pretty quickly. He is very comfortable at home with me and with people he sees regularly. We are working to help him feel more confident with strangers. That said, he is a VERY energetic boy and needs training. He is very food driven and loves his people so will be easy to train. He is very fast and on the move, and turns on a dime to come back when called.
Griffin takes a bit of time to warm up to strangers. Treats make everything great! He is very in tune with a person's energy. If they are relaxed and happy, Griffin will settle and become relaxed too.
He seeks attention from my nine year old granddaughter, but he gets overly excited and will begin grabbing her hand and biting. It is a bit much for her.
I believe a home with no children would be best.

Griffin would love to have a rough and tumble dog sibling to play with! He can be pesty at times with the dogs here who are all seniors. He tries so hard to get them to play with him! He loves being out in the yard and will run and run! Once all the dogs and people go in, though, he wants to be inside with them.

He has met the cat and remained calm the whole time. She came down her cat tree far enough to give him a nose to nose greeting and he was great. He readily followed me out of the area when I left. Judging from how he tries to play with my little dog, I expect he would attempt the same with the cat if she’d come out of her area. I think he could live with dog savvy cats and learn to leave them be.
Griffin is totally house trained. He has never had an accident in the house. If I leave the house for several hours with the dogs home loose, he is fine and has had no accidents. At bedtime, he stays quietly sleeping loose in the bedroom all night.
Griffin rides very well in the car. I use a harness and seat belt clip. He loves looking out this way and that and he is getting very good at untwisting himself! He also crates well in the car and rides very quietly.
Griffin is not a fan of medical handling. He is very loose and wiggly at the vet and loves getting attention, but as soon as the exam begins, he is nervous and reacts. We get through it with gentle handling, a cage muzzle and string cheese!
Griffin finally winding down:)

So much potential here!
I cannot wait to see all the things he does going forward!
Griffin is being fostered in NH.
There is nothing like an Aussie Butt Wiggle
and Griffin's is the best!
